Abstract: As the founder of the Changzhou New Text School, Zhuang Cunyu broke through the barrier of simple annotation in his representative work Correct Version of the Spring and Autumn Annals (Chunqiu zhengci) which created a comprehensive system of political theory. This system of political theory was, without a doubt, suited to the actual social demands of that time. Zhuang’s compassionate concern for his times was evident in the renewed advocacy of “the utility of statecraft”and his establishment of a new scholarly style.
