Abstract: Based on eight representative works of the Yan Xing Lu, the author systematically evaluates the significance and value of the Yan Xing Lu as a source for politics, biography folk drama and culture in the Qing dynasty. According to the author, the Yan Xing Lu was distinguished by its clarity and comprehensiveness making it an important historical resource which was unmatched by any other foreign language historical sources concerning China
