摘要: 儒家学者对于西方自然科学的反应与西学究竟在何等层面上影响了中国的学术研究?本文在研究过程中发现,西学对中国传统学术的影响,只限在天文、历法、地理学、数学等方面以及再次唤起中国人对传统中类似学科(如数学)的兴趣。“西学中源论”却阻止了中国学者更进一步地接受西方科学。

Abstract: This essay seeks to answer two basic questions: How did Confucian scholars respond to Western natural science and to what extent did Western learning influence Chinese academic research. T he essay notes that the influence of Western learning on traditional Chinese learning was limited to fields of astronomy, calendars, geography, mathematics, and other related fields and once again revived interest in similar traditional Chinese disciplines, like mathematics. T he theory of “Chinese origin of Western learning “however prevented Chinese scholars from further accepting Western science.
