Abstract: Wages are an important subject in the economic history but the topic has been a weak link in the study of Ming-Qing economic history. Focusing on Huating and Lou counties, this paper explores the wages of all professions including agriculture, industry, commerce and service trades in Songjiang area, and evaluates their states. Although the observation is preliminary, this research is an important first step toward understanding incomes in Songjiang.
