Abstract: This essay is primarily based on population data from Shaanxi provincial gazetteers and other similar written records. The author concretely evaluates the changing process of registering households and individuals in Shaanxi during the early half of the Qing, and the accuracy and losses in household figures in Shaanxi provincial gazetteers.
